Hi! My name is Ruth. First
of all, let me say that it is a real honour and privilege
to share my heart with you for the Baptist Churches in Poland.
Before I tell you more, let me tell you a few words about
Poland
I was born and raised in
a Baptist home in Kalisz, Poland and emigrated to Canada in
1961. I went back many times to see relatives and friends.
I also visited several Baptist churches in different cities
of Poland. After returning from several trips, I saw the need
for starting in Canada a non-profit organization, run by volunteers
with the following purposes and activities in mind:
a) to maintain, develop
and promote Polish culture and the work of the Union of Baptists
in Poland and, particularly, the Educational Centre in Warsaw-Radosc.
b) to assist the Union by supporting her church workers, teachers,
labourers, artists, students and missionaries.
c) to maintain and develop a bridge of communication between
the Baptist Churches in Poland, and the Baptist Churches in
Canada and around the world.
d) to be an ambassador for the Union of Baptists in Poland
in Canada by representing her needs and communicating them.
To facilitate the above,
I began an outreach organization called FRIENDS OF POLAND
in the hope that with the help of volunteers we could establish
FoP Chapters across Canada and around the world. The first
"Friends of Poland" chapter was created in 1993 in Edson,
Alberta. Another chapter is now active since February, 2000
in Aylmer, Quebec.
