OCTOBER 2000 UPDATE
1) Building plans
We
would like to finish the interior of the Chapel. We hope to achieve this with
the Lord's help. In the meantime, we are using the chapel in its unfinished
state.

2) Scholarship Fund For Our
Students
This is a great concern. Some of our present students
have serious financial problems. The same problem exists also for those
students who would like to apply for admission next year. The new academic year
started September 4, 2000. We have presently 8 full-time third-year students.
They are now taking the Church Practicum. There are 14 full time second-year
students. The part-time student tally is as follows: 6 students are in their
last year of study, 19 students are in the second-yar and 14 in the first year.
We pray to the Lord to enable us to offer the One-year School of Evangelisation course. May the Lord bless your richly. Peter Arndt - Student Admission
NOVEMBER 2000 UPDATE
WBST News - November 2000 News from the Baptist Theological Seminary, Warsaw (Vol. 3, Issue 3) "To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ"
REASONS FOR JOY! The suburb of Warsaw in which the seminary is located is called Radosc. In English that means "joy". Ever since 1924 when the land here was made available for the use of Polish Baptists, that name has seemed to us very appropriate. But since the last WBST News there have been some special reasons for joy and thanksgiving:
NEW ROAD This summer for the first time the road to the campus was asphalted. Instead of dust in the summer and mud in the winter and always potholes, students and staff and our many visitors now enjoy a smooth drive to the campus.
CAMPUS TRANSFORMED The seminary campus has also been transformed with the laying of paving stones and lawns. We are thankful to God for all of those who through their generous giving have enabled us to complete these projects. We would remind our readers that the seminary is available throughout the year as a national and international conference centre.
SCHOOL OF ENGLISH In September we started the "School of English". The seminary has always had a two-year English program for our students. We consider this vital to equip the students to benefit from the large amount of Evangelical Theology available in English. In addition, we have offered conversational evening classes for members of the surrounding community. Now for the first time we have opened up our full English program to all. Classes are on weekday evenings and more than 60 people attend.
WBST PUBLICATIONS This year the seminary has published two important works in Polish, both by Konstanty Wiazowski, Lecturer in Systematic Theology and acting Rector. The first, a 40 page booklet "Theological Education among Baptists in Poland", traces the history of attempts to establish a seminary in Poland. It ends with reasons why a biblical theological education is necessary for the health and growth of the church. The second is a book of nearly 500 pages, "Fundamental Principles of the Christian Faith." This is one of the few systematic theologies in Poland today actually written by a Pole. Further publications by our faculty are planned.
SEMINARY STAFF NEWS Gustaw Cieslar, the Rector, is on sabbatical. Konstanty Wiazowski, a former president of the Baptist Union of Poland, is now the acting Rector. Piotr Muchowski, Professor of Hebrew, has taken over from Mark Edworthy as Academic Dean. Ewa Dajludzionek has returned to her native Bialystok. We are very thankful for her contribution to the life of the seminary and especially the English department. Gill Wotton has come from the UK as a volunteer to assist in the School of English.
Please pray for the teaching staff at WBST that our teaching will always accord with "the pattern of sound words" contained in Holy Scripture (2 Timothy 1:13).
